The Journey Back
A downloadable game for Windows
The Journey Back invites you to a hard yet mysterious adventure through the stars. Step into the shoes of a young astronaut traveling to Mars to find her estranged grandfather and bring him home before it’s too late. Along the journey, uncover hidden truths about their past, explore a vision of the future, and shape their bond through choices that truly matter. Will you piece together the threads of their shared story and make it back in time?
About the project:
I was always interested about game making and I did some mini games and prototypes before. For some reason I missed to create a "whole" project, I've only complesed my mini games, but I really wanted to make an interactive art which has begining and end, something witch by I can communicate with others and tell something.
So here's this game I've been challenging myself with. One of those challenges was the programming part. I wanted to try writing something from scratch at least once. I didn't use any game editing software for the game. I was mainly interested in image rendering and image manipulation (dithering, bluring etc.) Related to this, I also created the graphic elements. Here I was curious to see how productive it is to work with imaging AI. The third important area was story writing. This was probably the most difficult. I chose a personal theme, the theme of melancholy and getting out of it. Although I had written many diaries and essays before, I had never written such long dialogues.
So I took on the writing, development and graphic design. It may have been beyond my abilities in some areas, but I see it as a very productive learning process in all respects. For example, it is an important experience that it is completely unnecessary to do everything alone. I have my own opinion about the final result, but I'm curious to know what you think, so I would be very grateful if you could leave me a comment here after trying it out.
