The Journey Back

The Journey Back is about a travel to the distant land of Mars. Step into the shoes of a young astronaut who travels to the red planet to find his estranged grandfather and bring him home before it's too late. Along the way, discover hidden truths about their past, try to learn their views on science, family and the future of humanity.

During the conversation between the two protagonists, you have the opportunity to control the thread of the dialogue. Your choices have consequences. The old inhabitant of Mars doesn't share information about himself easily, so if you don't ask the right questions, you might not learn everything about Teo. On the other hand, it's worth being tactful, because the game has two completely different endings. Teo may decide not to return to Earth with you at the end of the game if he feels he cannot trust you.

About the project:

This game has been a training project for me for a long time. I tried basic programming exercises and other solutions that interested me. I was always interested about game making and I did some mini games and prototypes before. For some reason I missed to create a "whole" project, I've only complesed my mini games, but I really wanted to make a kind of "interactive art".  So I took on the writing, development and graphic design.

It may have been beyond my abilities in some areas, but I see it as a very productive learning process in all respects. I have my own opinion about the final result (you can read the dev notes on my conclusions), but I'm curious to know what you think, so I would be very grateful if you could leave me a comment here after trying it out.
